Top 4 Ultra-Wide Lenses for Sony APS-C (E-mount) Cameras

A wide-angle lens allows more of the scene to be included in the frame. For landscape, architectural and interior photographers, both wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses are common choices. Here are my top picks for best wide & ultra-wide-angle lenses for the a6000 series of Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras.

The 12mm Rokinon manual lens is the best overall value/viewing angle. There’s also a 9mm that would be an even wider view but it’s a bit more expensive and still manual.

Review Summary

The 9mm Laowa manual lens is the widest angle while maintaining an adequately “low light” friendly f/2,8 aperture. The cost is a bit higher than the 12mm Rokinon but if more in the frame is important to you, this may be a wise investment.

Although the Sigma 16mm has a much more narrow field of view than the manual focus lenses in my picks, some may prioritize autofocus over field of view. If you don’t need to catch as much of the scene in the frame, this may be a good option for you.

Review Summary

The Sony 10-18mm is the only non-prime (zoom) lens in the bunch. It is the most expensive and arguably the least sharp. Te f/4 aperature can’t achieve a shallow depth-of-field (bokeh) as the 2.8, 2.0 or 1.4 prime lenses and also won’t preform as well in low light. With that said, it is a flexible, ultra wide, autofocus lens that some will enjoy.
